Ikea, you're my right hand, you're my go to!

I love ikea, I walk through those tacky bright blue and yellow doors and I feel like I'm in paradise. I picked up some few things for Milena, recently I've had a bit of an elephant obsession, I bought Milena an elephant, pjs and she already had a tiny elephant on one of my fave blankets (it's grey and from ikea) and today I found some perfect bits for my growing baby. Seeing as the winter months are now with us, slowly but surely the days are getting shorter, the rain is getting heavier and the smell of winter is in the air! I can't complain though I love winter!! I love snuggling under a blanket and with a hot drink, but I know that this winter is going to be very different for me!!! Trying to entertain a 6month old in doors is a tricky one. So in ikea I bought a lovely quilted blanket (with elephants on it) and it was only £11 I love a good ol' bargain, I thought it would be perfect to just throw on the floor with some toys, soon Milena will be crawling so getting her on her tummy as much as possible is my priority!!! I also got a matching grow bag which I think was £6 compared to the one I had from the White company before with was £28!! It's a bit lighter but because she sleeps with me I don't want her to get over heated!!! Seeing as my daughter loves to kick in her sleep it's perfect to assure she stays warm!!!

Thirdly I got some spoons and bowls for her. We are now approaching our second stage of weaning. As you must know by now I have been making all of milenas food, however I am hesitant to introduce meats into her diet but in the next 2 weeks I will be doing so (will post about that later, meats scare me lol) Also because me and mimi are always on the go I always loose our spoons so I got a few!!! They are bright colours and safe for her to put in her mouth!!! Recently I have been getting messy with her (thank god our living room has wooden floors) I have been giving her finger food and a spoon to play with whilst I feed her. Her hand eye coordination is getting so much better and the finger food and use of the spoon really helps to practise getting things into her mouth. This week has been a bit of a fight to get her to eat (teeth can you come out already *side eye*) so having the spoon and finger food for her to play with has been a bit of a distraction so I can get some food into her mouth. I can't lie but it has been so stressful because I'm so use to her loving her food and now she has got into the habit of sealing her mouth shut, spitting food out and pushing herself away from me (counting down the days when I can give her licks lol...jokes) today for breakfast I gave her bread with mashed banana spread on it and it was a bit of a success although most of it ended up on the floor but I was able to give her some blended peach, banana and bio yogurt whilst she experimented with the bread!!!

Whilst I was in ikea I ate in there (regretted it so much after) but with my meal came a free organic baby pouch with no added nonsense, from that Anabel lady lol, it was "carrots, parsnips and apples" and Milena really enjoyed it! I don't usually give her non-homemade stuff but it was free and we were out so I thought why not!! And I let Milena suck it out of the pouch and she loved it, she drank it like a juice!!! It was a relief as we have been struggling with food this week as I told you earlier!!! I love the fact they give you food for free (if u spend more than £3) and I tasted some and it was actually really nice!!! So that was a big thumbs up for me!!

The only down side of the trip was the reason I wanted to go was to get Milenas high chair, (whenever I go to get one thing from ikea I end up with a bag full of crap I don't need and a hefty bill at the end) I want to start eating at the same time as her so she looks forward to food times and sees it as a social event, I've noticed when we are out and I put her in the high chair she eats better and will copy me when I give her finger food!!! I was so annoyed when it was sold out!! However I will be hopefully getting it by the end of the week and I will update you all on my progress!!! So ladies pop down to your local ikea, you can feed your baby for free and pick up some cute and cheap bits on the way. Love from the baby food police lol x
